Colorado State Flags
![]() The official Colorado state flags currently in use were adopted in 1911. Both civil and state flags are identical and were designed by Andrew Carlisle Johnson. The Colorado state flag has three horizontal stripes of equal width. The middle stripe is solid white and both top and bottom stripes are blue that, according to the definition, are of the same hue as the one used in the American flag. Over the stripes and slightly off the canto side, a circular red letter C with a gold disc inserted completes the flag. This gold disc has a diameter equal to the width of the white stripe. Blue and white represent the skies and the snow-capped mountains, the golden disc symbolizes the sun and the red stands for the color of the soil in Colorado. |
