Georgia State Flags
![]() There have been several Georgia state flags over the years, all reflecting the proud history and heritage of this Southern state. The first flag, adopted in 1879, was a vertical blue bar next to two red bars and one white one. This was enhanced with various seals and mottoes, including the Stars and Bars of the Confederacy from 1956-2001. The Georgia flag of today harkens back to the original with the addition of the state seal on the blue background. Like Louisiana state flags and other Southern states, the flag of Georgia are a reminder of the past combined with elements of the future. |
