Hawaii State Flags
![]() Hawaii state flags are unique among the state flags of the United States. The flag of Hawaii is the only flag to incorporate the British Union Jack into its design, symbolic of the period of time that Hawaii spent under British control. The rest of the flag is composed of eight horizontal stripes of red, white and blue, representing the eight major islands in the archipelago. Various combinations of the flag's stripes are currently used. The flag's many stripes make it perhaps the most complicated of all state flags, particularly when compared with one like the Texas state flag, which consists of three solid color fields and a single star. Hawaii has one of the most interesting flags in the United States. |
