State flag of Alabama? A buddy told me that today's Alabama state flag was the official calvary flag for the Confederate Calvary. Is this true, I can't find that anywhere on the net. Thanks for your help.

German flag and thyssen-krupp flag flying at same height as american flag? im working at the thyssen krupp steel mill site in mobile, alabama and they have put up flag poles of the united states, germany, state of alabama, and the german company thyssen-krupp all flying at the same height. while the u.s. and german flag might be able to fly at the same height over american soil im pretty sure the alabama flag and damn certain the company flag must be flown at lower levels! there are over 4000 workers on this site and no one seems to be upset about this. am i over reacting? and who could i contact to correct this insult? The U.N. does not fly corporate flags. And if the american flag is on the right you walk to the other side of the flags and then it isnot on the right
i need some math help? how do i explain how there are 4 lines of symmetry in the Alabama state flag?
need some help with this math question.? how many lines of symmetry are in the Alabama state flag?
Have you seen the Alabama License Plate? I am so proud of Alabama for having the courage to make a plate ( muted furled American flag in background) with "In God We Trust" on the bottom. Way to go Alabama! More states should follow. SC has an optional one with this, too. I know money has it, but there are groups attempting to have it removed!
What do you think is the most conservative state in the United States? Does Mississippi ever come to anyone's mind? They have the f***ing confederate flag in their state flag for G**d's sake. I don't understand why people think Texas is such a "backwards" state. In my list, there would be a few states in consideration before Texas, such as Alabama, Kentucky and Tennessee. Gallup poll, most conservative state: http://blog.al.com/spotnews/2009/08/gallup_poll_alabama_most_conse.html
Do people think that Alabama is all redneck and relative breeding racial haters? Sure we call pop (and we giggle a little bit about that)a coke or pepsi, but we are just trying to be specific about things. Some of the best looking girls as percentage are from Alabama. (no inbreeding here) I have been up to the Northern States, and I have been to the Western States, but the place I love the most is Sweet Home Alabama. By the way, yes, there is still different kinds of flags waving around the sky, but I have seen these flags on cars and other houses in other states besides here. It has been said it means different things to different people. There is no racial ignorance here, unless someone makes it a point to be, just like anywhere else. With that said, please fill me in with your answers and comments. Lots of love for the world, straight from Alabama.
Which US States have the British Flag on their flag or crest? Apart from Alabama and Hawaii. I suppose that this may just the crest of Montgomery, Alabama. http://www.scottish.parliament.uk/nmCentre/news/news-05/pa05-024.htm
Rudy thinks the Confederate flag is just swell? What do you think about that? "Asked about the flying of the Confederate flag in some Southern states, Giuliani said, "That's a good thing to be left on a state-by-state basis." Giuliani said he did not recall seeing a Confederate flag during his day in Alabama — even though there was a display of four Confederate flags flying beside the Capitol." http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2007-04-11-giuliani-groceries_N.htm?csp=34 Last time I checked, there's nothing in the Constitution that prohibits a cross from being burned. That doesn't mean that it's a good idea for state governments to do it. Looks like I found me a bunch of crackers!
Southern States/Confederate Flag? This is to the people in the southern states....... What does the confederate flag represent to you? I'm just curious because a lot of people in other parts of the country tend to think that it's a racist thing. I've also heard some people say it's simply a "pride of the south" type of thing? Maybe both? I don't know, so this is why I'm asking. I live up north in Wisconsin, so we rarely ever see it here. I took a trip down to Alabama this summer and saw them everywhere. I'm honestly curious as to what it means to you, or other people you know who still fly it, wear it, or whatever. Thanks for your answers, and please be as honest as you want!
How were blacks treated in the southern states after fighting in WW-2 and Vietnam? In flag waiving "God Bless America" states such as Alabama, did black veterans receive a hero's welcome for their sacrifice and patriotism? I ask not to incite hatred, but to point out the root cause for inititives such as Affirmative Action. Just as Unions were the result of mistreatment and abuse by business owners, Affirmative Action is the result of blatant racist practices where minorities and women were denied opportunities simply because of the ignorant few in positions of authority. whimsy (below) The past isn't to be changed. It is to be studied and learned from to understand the dynamics of the present. Ed J (below) Wow! You were there. You have seen a lot of change in America. Isn't it great! IMPEACH SATAN. (below) I would support phasing out Affirmative Action over a 20 year period. By then most of the dinosaurs will be extinct.
What is a good U.S. state to live in? Please, no smart alec answers about states of amnesia, confusion, perplexity, etc. They don't have stars on the U.S. flag. I want a state with a good, growing job market, a good education system, friendly, hard-working people, a relatively low cost of living and high quality of life, natural beauty, and proximity to recreational areas. Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Utah, and New Mexico are some of the states I'm looking into. Every state in the country has something unique, charming, distinctive, and nice about it, so I mean nothing personal toward the states I didn't mention. Thanks!
Trivia! First person to get all questions right gets 10 points! ? 1. What country was Nokia founded in? 2. What is the scientific name for the flower on the Hong Kong flag? 3. Name the 3 countries that border Luxembourg. 4. What is the highest point in the State of Alabama? 5. How many species of zebras are there?
How long can you stay in America once the INS has flagged you. ? How Long can you stay in America once the INS has flagged you. A Jamaican friend of mine worked for the state of Alabama and unfortunately was fired due to her not being a legal citizen. The state has now turned her information over to the INS, and the INS has flagged her to where she can't even work at McDonald's if she wanted too. How long Is she able to stay in America before she'll be deported.
What do you think when you hear: California, Utah, Minnesota, Michigan, Kentucky, Alabama, New York, NewJersey *I know there's a space between "New" and "Jersey" but I ran out of room on the title line.* These were just the first states that came to mind at random. I'm a little bored, can't you tell? Anyway, here's what I think. It's neither a criticism nor compliment to any of the states, and some thoughts are stereotypical ones, but here it goes: A. California: hippies, surfers, L.A., pot, the California accent B. Utah: Mormons, more Mormons, S.L.C., the Wasatch C. Minnesota: the Gophers of UM, that show "Coach" D. Michigan: cars, ghettos, GM, snow E. Kentucky: well, I live here, so I'll say boredom, hillbillies, buck teech, confederate flags, and bourbon F. Alabama: hillbillies, buck teeth, "Sweet Home Alabama" G. New York: NYC, Hillary, Niagara Falls, Long Island, WNBC Channel 4 (for some strange reason) H. New Jersey: 24 hour roadside diners, yellow license plates, the word "shore" Don't worry, by the way. I have all of my teeth, and in great condition, at that. I'm not a hillbilly, don't live in a trailer, and don't fly a confederate flag. I do have a college education, however.
A question for those who are fond of displaying the Confederate Flag.? The Confederate Battle flag is perceived as a racist symbol and many find this offensive. Others claim that it is merely an historical symbol which preserves their Southern Heritage and has nothing to do with racism. My question is this: Why that particular flag? I am a Southerner and quite familiar with the various symbols of the Confederacy. The flag that is normally seen is the flag of the Army of Tennessee which was commanded by Nathan Bedford Forrest and this is the flag normally used by the Ku Klux Klan This flag is rectangular in shape as opposed to the square battle flag used by General Lee's Army of Northern Virginia. They look the same except for the shape. Robert E. Lee freed his slaves before accepting the job as Commander of the Army of Northern Virgina and Nathan Bedford Forrest went on to found the Klan. So this becomes a two part question. The first, why always Forrest's flag which was coopted by the Klan and not General Lee's which to the knowledable observer does not carry quite the same negative connotation? And the larger question is this. Why display either battle flag instead of the official flag of the Confederacy which is called the Stars and Bars. This flag was flown on all public buildings. If I am losing you, this flag has a blue circle of stars denoting the Confederate States in the left top corner and three stripes, two red and one white. It was adopted as the official flag on March 4, 1861 in Montgomery, Alabama, the first capital of the Confederacy. This flag does not evoke as much negative emotion as the battle flag and is a more fitting symbol of the Confederacy. So if your real intent in displaying a Confederate flag is merely historical and to comemerate what was once our Southern Nation, why not use the real flag of our former nation instead of a symbol that most certainly evokes the memory of slavery and the outrageous actions of the Klan? So if you insist on displaying a flag, would you not prefer as true Southern Ladies and Gentlemen to display the correct symbol of the Confederacy instead of one which so many find offensive?
What is your FAVORITE state? Worst? Ok, I live in Hamilton, Ohio, but it's not my favorite state. My favorite state is Kentucky, so far. The people are extremely generous, and KINDHEARTED! I love my cousins down there, Six Flags over Louisville Kentucky is the BEST amuesment park in my opinion. Also, I have fun down there, and I love how the laws aren't that strict. Kentucky is AWESOME! MY worst by FAR is Alabama! Ok, besides the fatc that the weather is ALWAYS hot, and there is basically nothing to do down there, I've had bad encounters with people. I had one guy get mad at me because I stared at him wrong. One guy got pissed because I threw a stick in his yard. Plus, they automatically HATE people from the NORTH, no matter what. I can't stand their A**hole ways, and I hate their guts. I hate Alabama!
What Are Your Opinions On The Confederate Flag? Well I Want To Start Off With Telling You This Is Not Just Myself Formed Opinion It's Also From My Experiences From Being In The Deep South From The Age Of Three And I'm 22 Yrs. Old Now That Would Be Almost 19 Yrs. Living In Montgomery,AL To Be Specific,To Me The Confederate Flag Represents A Known But Unspoken Of Symbol For We Hate Homosexuals & Non Caucasian People For Whites In The Southern States,Some Claim It's A Symbol For Their Southern Pride But I Feel That Is Bull Sh*t Cause I Have Southern Pride And Would Die For It And Would Never Use A Confederate Flag To Symbolize My Southern Pride, Because Of What The Confederate Union Stood For And They Were The Ones Who Flew It In War In Support Of Not Abolishing Slavery As Their Main Motive Tho There Were A Few Other Minor Issues They Fought For But The Main One Keeping Slavery, My Sister Told Me This And She Is Very Educated Her Credentials Are A Bachelor's Degree In History She Was Taught By A World Renowned History Professor At Auburn University Who Has All Type Of Accolades And Has Been Featured On The History Channel And Alabama Public Television And Other Channels And Shows, So It Really Gets Under My Skin When Ignorant Small Minded People Say That The Confederate Union Didn't Fight In The American Civil War To Keep Slavery. But I Would Like Everyone Ones Opinions Or Comments On This Subject From Racists,Non Racists Whites, And Non Whites Thanks. I saw somebody stated that African Americans also fought in the civil war for the Confederate Union that is true but not by choice they replaced slave masters them selves or slave master's family members. to answer idocare's question 1.no I haven't asked this question before 2.I'm from the "Heart Of The Dixie" Montgomery,Al. and I don't hate southern white people I have white people in my immediate family. 3.My Sister Is Qualified To Be A History Teacher In Alabama And Would Trust Her Knowledge Over Yours Any Day. 4.Yes I Do Realize The Alabama Flag Does Resemble The Confederate Flag. 5.I Think Your The One Who Is Racist
Was Alberto Trejo just here for a better life will there be marches and protests with Mex Flag over this? MONTGOMERY -- A state appeals court Friday refused to rehear a second appeal of a life sentence given an illegal immigrant convicted in a gruesome drug-related murder of a Marshall County man. Alberto Trejo, 28, of Geraldine was convicted in the July 2006 shooting death of Antonio Paz. In a ruling by Judge James Main, the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals denied Trejo's request for a rehearing of his appeal. Paz's burned and dismembered body was found buried in concrete in a shed behind a home near Crossville in neighboring DeKalb County. Authorities said the victim was killed with a rifle. The jury in Trejo's trial heard testimony that Trejo was a major drug dealer and Paz was shot over illegal drugs. According to authorities, Trejo had entered the United States illegally and had been deported before the slaying. After he was deported to Mexico, authorities learned that he had re-entered the U.S. illegally. Trejo is serving his sentence at the Staton Correctional Center in Elmore County. State Department of Corrections' records show his release date as May 19, 2108. http://blog.al.com/breaking/2010/05/illegal_immigrants_murder_conv.html

Why is the South such an embarassment to America? With their confederate flags, secession in support of slavery, Southern Baptist Church (created out of support for slavery) , opposition to women's rights, opposition to civil rights in the 1960s, and the last states to finally get rid of their anti-interracial marriage bans. Alabama didn't get rid of theirs until 2000. Why is it the South always the last place to get with the times? Why is it so conservative/fundamentalist with respect to the rest of the country? "What makes you so sure your way is right?" HISTORY. Different groups have different beliefs about social issues today, but history shows us that there are certain things most people today agree is wrong that people in the past were split on. For example, most people today believe slavery was wrong, that women deserve equal rights, and that people should be free to marry outside their race. These views were in the minority in the past and it was christian conservatives (especially from the South) who opposed these changes.
Which supreme court case should i do? These are all the ones i found interesting, which one should i do and please give me a link to it's information: Hazelwood School District v. Kuhlmeier Citation: 484 U.S. 260,108 S.Ct. 562 (1988) Concepts: Censorship/State Rights v. Students’ Free Press Rights Facts Kathy Kuhlmeier and two other journalism students wrote articles on pregnancy and divorce for their school newspaper. Their teacher submitted page proofs to the principal for approval. The principal objected to the articles because he felt that the students described in the article on pregnancy, although not named, could be identified, and the father discussed in the article on divorce was not allowed to respond to the derogatory article. The principal also said that the language used was not appropriate for younger students. When the newspaper was printed, two pages containing the articles in question as well as four other articles approved by the principal were deleted. Issue Wallace v. Jaffree Citation: 472 U.S. 38 (1985) Concepts: Moment of Silence/State Rights v. Establishment Clause Facts The parents of three children attending public school in Alabama challenged the constitutionality of an Alabama law which authorized a one minute period of silence in all public schools for meditation or voluntary prayer. Mills v. Board of Education of District of Columbia Citation: 348 F.Supp. 866 (1972) Concept: Education for Exceptional Children Equal Protection v. State Rights Facts Seven children of school age were denied education because they were mentally retarded, emotionally disturbed, hyperactive, or had behavioral problems. The Board of Education did not provide schooling for these exceptional children, violating controlling statutes and their own board regulations. It was also estimated that 18,000 similar “exceptional” children in the Washington, D.C., area were not in school. The D.C. school system admitted that it had failed its duty to provide these children with publicly supported education suited to their individual needs. It also had failed to provide prior hearings and periodic reviews of each exceptional student case. West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette Citation: 319 U.S. 624 (1943) Concepts: Flag Salute/State Rights v. Establishment Clause Facts The West Virginia State Board of Education required by state law that all students salute the flag and recite the pledge of allegiance as a part of their daily routine. Students who refused were suspended, declared unlawfully absent, and subject to delinquency proceedings. Parents of such students were also subject to a fine or imprisonment. Several Jehovah’s Witnesses, who were citizens of West Virginia, sought from the court an injunction to stop the West Virginia State Board of Education from requiring the pledge and flag salute. Issue Reno v. A.C.L.U. Citation: 117 S. Ct. 2329 (1997) Concepts: Free Speech/Censorship/Obscene/Indecent/Cyberspace Facts The 1996 Federal Communications Decency Act sought to protect minors from “indecent” and offensive Internet materials. The Act made it a crime to transmit obscene or indecent messages over the Internet.

is this good and right information about American Civil War Confederate Flags? i went to Wiki and another site for information, and i know wiki's are very helpful. for this assignment, we have to have at least ten important details about the Confederate Flags. here's what i got: 1;the first confederate flag was the Stars and Bars, used from March 1861 to May of 1863. 2; the Stars and Bars had seven stars, then to nine, then to 11, then finally 13. 3; the Stars and Bars' stars represent the Confederate states, which includes Texas, Alabama, South Carolina, and a few others. 4; On May 1st, 1863, a new flag was adopted, the southern cross. 5; the southern cross was a red flag that had an X on it with the official 13 states that represented the 13 official confederate states with a white background. 6; almost a year later, a new pattern was adopted. this new flag had a broad, red bar on the right side of the flag. 7; the confederate battle flag was the best known confederate flag, which looked similar to the southern cross. (it was the one that just the cross without the backround. i'm bringing picuters of it into my class which are on the sites i listed below.) 8; the confederate battle flag was carried by confederate troops in the field which were the vast majority of forces under the confederacy. for the ninth one i was going to write something about the confederate navy jack and for the last one, i found a little paragraph to read to the class about the bonnie blue flag. are these real? and are the 1-8 real? do i have mistakes, not including capitalization because i capitalized it in my writing? the sites i used were: http://americancivilwar.com/south/conflag/southflg.html andddd http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flags_of_the_Confederate_States_of_America please help me!
In your opinion, what are the "best" and "worst" U.S. states? Why? All states have their good and bad points to them--after all, this is a great country. As for me... "Best": 1. Texas: friendly folks, great cities, diversity in geography, they can fly their flag the same level as the U.S. flag and divide into six states 2. Tennessee. Friendly, beautiful (especially the Smokies,) water in east TN is so clean 3. Mississippi. Friendly, there's nothing like the smell of pine forest on a cool, crisp, foggy morning 4. Alabama. Friendly..again, and the best shrimp on the Gulf. B-ham is a cool city 5. Washington. Seattle, Olympic peninsula, volcanoes, ridges 6. North Carolina. Nothing like the Blue Ridge, a must see "Worst": 1. West Virginia: not very progressive, good-ol-boy networks pervasive 2. Arkansas: Ditto 3. Kentucky: Ditto--plus, folks there are just mean (and not JUST Louisville and Lexington) 4. California: SoCal is dirty, overcrowded, expensive 5. New Jersey: high crime, LOT of pollution, high taxes 6. Connecticut: Sucks!
Do Americans Really Pretend They Are Canadians When Traveling Abroad?? I ask this as an American, because I've heard people from the U.S. and Canada say this. I live in western New York state. I see and hear Canadians all the time and I can tell you that Canadian accents are completely different from our accents. Canadians pronounce words differently & also use words and expressions we don't use. I can point out a Canadian the second I hear two words from their mouths. Don't you think someone from Alabama would look dumb with a Canadian flag on their backpack??? Please!!
Need somebody who can think like a Yahoo Answers moderator? I answered a question here, and it was flagged. I thought the answer was good, and I couldn't see where it was against the community guidelines, so I appealed the flag. However, I ended up losing -- the Yahoo Answer moderator (not sure what they're really called) decided it was a solicitation. However, I can't see it. Do they think I'm soliciting on behalf of Google or Bing? Here's the answer and their decision: "Can you pay monthly vs. yearly or semi-annually? $2000 per year, while it looks like a lot, is probably pretty decent given the situation. Actually -- that's $166 monthly (plus some fees if you actually pay monthly).. that's not bad at all, sorry to say, and I haven't been 18 for a long time... I paid much more than that. You should look into high risk auto insurance providers. I know that around here, they advertise on local TV all the time -- 'insurance for as low as $45' -- while it's virtually impossible to get insurance that low, I was paying less with Titan Insurance than I was quoted for Allstate, Progressive, and State Farm (about $3,000 yearly)... You won't get a rate anywhere near that, but these flat-rate, high risk providers tend to offer lower rates for high risk drivers than mainstream insurers do. To find a high risk insurance provider (broker, preferably) locally, search Google or Bing for 'high risk auto insurance' + state name + city name (or some variations without the quotes). For instance, if you live near Birmingham Alabama, search for 'high risk auto insurance birmingham al' or something like that. Google may be better as they tend to provide local listings alongside the web-based listings. Alternately, get a quote from every single insurance company that you can find. It'll take a lot of work, but if you use an online insurance broker (they help you get quotes from multiple insurance companies simultaneously), it'll save you some time. Good luck." Violation Reason: Solicitation Well, I always have lost my appeals... but on this one, I thought it was a helpful answer, so I tried to fight it. Maybe it's not possible to win an appeal, then? That's quite ridiculous if that's the case. It wasn't just the initial report, it was after my appeal and when the Yahoo Answers staff or their contractors decided this was a solicitation. After the first answer here, I got to thinking about it -- I've appealed a small handful of flags since I started on here, and I've lost each appeal, though this is the only one that I can think of that told me which Community Guideline I violated. It's just aggravating to put in a decent effort to answer a question to have some slow-wit with tenuous grasp on basic word meanings and context to say this as a solicitation. In the grand scheme of things, this isn't a big deal... I just have little tolerance for incompetence... and it irritates me because their reasoning doesn't make any sense. Riki - no offense meant, as you apparently have spent a great deal of time here -- but answers ARE suggestions. People are coming here to seek help -- suggestions -- and if suggestions are solicitations, nearly every single useful answer on this service is in violation of your version of the Community Guidelines. It's absolutely ludicrous to even entertain the thought that a question and answers community prohibits users from giving others suggestions in their terms of service / rules. Riki - I apologize -- in re-reading your answer a few times, I've come to the conclusion that you probably meant you were giving me a suggestion, not that you were suggesting that suggestions were solicitations. Which, I would compare my poor interpretation to the deplorable job the moderators did with my appeal... but it's different as it's their 'job'. Though, again -- I apologize for my 'dimwittedness'. I'm just going to drop it -- I've let this trivial thing consume too much of my energy today. Thanks for all of your responses.
In your opinion, what are the "best" and "worst" states in the U.S.? Why? All states have their great points to them--afterall, this is a great country. As for me... "Best": 1. Texas: friendly folks, thriving cities, diversity in geography, they can fly their flag the same level as the U.S. flag and (optional) divide into six states 2. Tennessee. How can Obama claim to "fix the broken politics in Washington" after he defeats Republican John McCain? How can we expect anything GOOD to come of Obama, and better how does he plan on changing anything? He does not give ANY details I will tell you how he will change it FOR THE WORSE, you what to know how to do worse than Bush look at Obama that is how! He knows little to nothing about Washington and worse he tries his best to bring down McCain with what should be miserable results can you honestly want a man in office that does not respect America or anything that we stand for? Why would you elect someone who does not respect those that have and do fight for our country? I want some one that says things like this: 'The Pledge of Allegiance' - by Senator John McCain 'As you may know, I spent five and one half years as a prisoner of war during the Vietnam War. In the early years of our imprisonment, the NVA kept us in solitary confinement or two or three to a cell. In 1971 the NVA moved us from these conditions of isolation into large rooms with as many as 30 to 40 men to a room. This was, as you can imagine, a wonderful change and was a direct result of the efforts of millions of Americans on behalf of a few hundred POWs 10,000 miles from home. One of the men who moved into my room was a young man named Mike Christian. Mike came from a small town near Selma , Alabama . He didn't wear a pair of shoes until he was 13 years old. At 17, he enlisted in the US Navy. He later earned a commission by going to Officer Training School Then he became a Naval Flight Officer and was shot down and captured in 1967. Mike had a keen and deep appreciation of the opportunities this country and our military provide for people who want to work and want to succeed. As part of the change in treatment, the Vietnamese allowed some prisoners to receive packages from home. In some of these packages were handkerchiefs, scarves and other items of clothing. Mike got himself a bamboo needle. Over a period of a couple of months, he created an American flag and sewed it on the inside of his shirt. Every afternoon, before we had a bowl of soup, we would hang Mike's shirt on the wall of the cell and say the Pledge of Allegiance. I know the Pledge of Allegiance may not seem the most important part of our day now, but I can assure you that in that stark cell it was indeed the most important and meaningful event. One day the Vietnamese searched our cell, as they did periodically, and discovered Mike's shirt with the flag sewn inside, and removed it. That evening they returned, opened the door of the cell, and for the benefit of all of us, beat Mike Christian severely for the next couple of hours. Then, they opened the door of the cell and threw him in. We cleaned him up as well as we could. The cell in which we lived had a concrete slab in the middle on which we slept Four naked light bulbs hung in each corner of the room. As I said, we tried to clean up Mike as well as we could. After the excitement died down, I looked in the corner of the room, and sitting there beneath that dim light bulb with a piece of red cloth, another shirt and his bamboo needle, was my friend, Mike Christian. He was sitting there with his eyes almost shut from the beating he had received, making another American flag. He was not making the flag because it made Mike Christian feel better. He was making that flag because he knew how important it was to us to be able to Pledge our allegiance to our flag and country. So the next time you say the Pledge of Allegiance, you must never forget the sacrifice and courage that thousands of Americans have made to build our nation and promote freedom around the world. You must remember our duty, our honor, and our country.' 'I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.' I know Obama will not win it will be by a landslide if the Americans that are hypnotized by him would wake up and smell what he is shoveling! I just put what the article I read on Yahoo said.
Have You seen this about McCain vs Obama? John McCain's remarks about the Pledge of Allegiance In light of the recent appeals court ruling in California, with respect to the Pledge of Allegiance, the following recollection from Senator John McCain is very appropriate: 'The Pledge of Allegiance' - by Senator John McCain……………………………………..'As you may know, I spent five and one half years as a prisoner of war during the Vietnam War. One of the men who moved into my room was a young man named Mike Christian.Mike came from a small town near Selma , Alabama . Over a period of a couple of months, he created an American flag and sewed on the inside of his shirt. You can even send it back to me, I don't mind, because its worth reading again. oh......and then you have this clown, who refuses to place his hand on his heart and say the pledge......Subject: Remember this picture on election day!Let's all remember this on election day...if you have family serving in the military, make sure you send it along. I don't care for Hillary, but at least she shows respect for the country she lives in!I had heard about this but a picture is definitely worth 1000 words! God save us!!!Senator Barack Obama, Governor Bill Richardson, Senator Hillary Clinton and Ruth Harkin stand during the national anthem.Barack Hussein Obama's photo (that's his real name).....the article said he REFUSED TO NOT ONLY PUT HIS HAND ON HIS HEART DURING THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE, BUT REFUSED TO SAY THE PLEDGE.....how in the hell can a man like this expect to be our next Commander-in-Chief? Lettie, these links are for you. http://www.flagsbay.com/flag/2007/12/14/the-national-anthem-gets-no-respect/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Star-Spangled_Banner "United States Code, 36 USC Sec. 301, states that during the playing of "The Star Spangled Banner" (United States National Anthem) when the flag is displayed, everyone except those in uniform should stand at attention while facing the flag with their right hand over their heart. Those in attendance who are not in uniform should remove any headwear with their right hand and hold it at their left shoulder, with their right hand held over their heart. Individuals in uniform should show the military salute during the first note of the anthem and stay in this position until the last note. If the flag is not displayed, people in attendance should face the music and respond as if the flag were present."

Is Tony Jefferson have the least class you have ever heard of? He's a UCLA player who decommited....read why? http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?name=West_Recruiting&entryID=4700122&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fespn%2fblog%2findex%3fname%3dWest_Recruiting%26entryID%3d4700122 In his words in the locker room before the UCLA - USC game: ====== "The UCLA players really disrespected me before the game," Jefferson said. "When they saw me, they were all cussing at me, telling me to never come around Westwood again and things like that. These were guys that I had hung out with before and it was a lot of the team. I guess I kind of see it since I was committed there and was wearing USC gear before their big game, but I still didn't appreciate it. ======== Can you imagine an Ohio State commit coming into the locker room wearing Michigan gear before the big game, or an Alabama commit wearing Auburn gear before the Iron Bowl? Is it simply shocking that someone can be so utterly disconnected from reality? This guy would probably burn an American flag while on duty in our military and then wonder why he gets disciplined.
Is the Big 12 an embarrassment to football? I've never in my life seen an entire conference play such pansy defense. Big 12 jerks will say their conference just has the most amazing, insanely fantastic offenses the nation has ever seen. Oh please! I've watched Big 12 football, which is hard to do on a full stomach. I see zero pressure on the QB, screen passes consistently go for 30 yards, WRs catching WIDE open passes, and tons and tons and tons of missed tackles. The Big 12 is the shame of the nation and are one step above a 35 and over flag football league. Does anyone really think Oklahoma will put up 60 on Florida? Would Texas Tech put up 60 on Penn State's defense? Would Texas put up 60 on USC's defense? Would Missouri put up 60 on Alabama's D? Of course not! These teams actually play with some pride and can *gasp* tackle! I can't tell if DEs in the Big 12 are rushing the quarterbacks or having a seizure. My God forgive them for what they've done to college football. Prediction: Florida 45 - Oklahoma 21 oh, look at all the Little 12 lovers here! Watch your gay flag football conference. You clowns are too pathetic to win anything. I can see Graham Harrell's vagina from my house.

Why do so many Americans seem to hate on France? It's actually a pretty cool country to visit.? Now, I am from Alabama, so I definitely saw a lot of that "Nuke France" nonsense before the Iraq war. I remember the "right-wing pundits" screaming at President Chirac for not contributing soldiers to the Iraq War, even though he already committed troops to Afghanistan. But actually, when I went and visited France last year, I had an awesome time. I booked a hunting trip as part of my vacation. I wanted to see "Red Province France," since I've already seen Red State America. I rented a car and drove from Paris down to a city called Limoges. I stayed with some regular people I'd talked to over the internet. These were regular folks with regular jobs - believe it or not, France also has steelworkers, loggers, soldiers, cops, gun shop owners, and all the rest. The wine and beer was awesome. But the highlight was when we went hunting for boar in some of the forests around town. I had imported my own rifle, and the local guys had their own gun collections, and we bagged right up to the tag limit. The feast that night - just awesome. I'm talking about roasted boar, gallons of wine, big wheels of cheese, rabbit meat, quails, ducks, and all kinds of good stuff from the forest. Some guy even brought over some deer jerkey that he made the other day. After that, I drove east, visited the French Alps, then kept on going south until I got to the Medeterranian Sea. Some nice beaches - the women don't hide anything, if you know what I mean! Then I drove back up, dropped off some gifts from the folks I stayed with in Limoges, tried out some of the French I learned, and then headed back up to Paris for a couple days before flying back. Why would anyone here in America hate on France in this day and age? They've got special forces in Afghanistan. They've actually killed more Somali pirates than America so far. They've got a big population of gun owners (and handgun owners) who believe in the right to bear arms. They've got some awesome hunting. They salute their flag just like we do ours. WWII jokes are one thing (the war ended 64 years ago, by the way), but modern hate just seems ignorant. Y'all should visit rural France. Bet you'd enjoy it. Ah, that's another myth - "France will be taken over by Muslims". Actually, I met a lot of Algerians in France who were totally nonreligious. They drank alcohol and everything. Far from being part of a "Muslim takeover," they were adapting to French society. Like I said, you can't see these things unless you visit for yourself. France hardly "ran from the Nazis" in WWII - they lost 300,000 people. But at the time, the Blitzkrieg was unprecedented. The UK was only saved because it was an island. Get over it. Or at least research the activities of the French Resistance, which provided the allies with both soldiers and valuable intelligence operations. But anyhow - so what? How many people from the WWII era are even still alive? Did YOU fight in WWII? Didn't think so...
Who remembers the the year 1904? 100 Years ========= THE YEAR 1904 Maybe this will boggle your mind, I know it did mine! The year is 1904, one hundred years ago. What a difference a century makes! Here are some of the U.S. statistics for 1904: The average life expectancy in the U.S. was 47 years. Only 14 percent of the homes in the U.S. had a bathtub. Only 8 percent of the homes had a telephone. A three-minute call from Denver to New York City cost eleven dollars. There were only 8,000 cars in the U.S., and only 144 miles of paved roads. The maximum speed limit in most cities was 10 mph. Alabama, Mississippi, Iowa, and Tennessee were each more heavily populated than California. With a mere 1.4 million residents, California was only the 21st most populous state in the Union. The tallest structure in the world was the Eiffel Tower. The average wage in the U.S. was 22 cents an hour. The average U.S. worker made between $200 and $400 per year. A competent accountant could expect to earn $2000 per year, a dentist $2,500 per year, a veterinarian between $1,500 and $4,000 per year, and a mechanical engineer about $5,000 per year. More than 95 percent of all births in the U.S. took place at home. Ninety percent of all U.S. physicians had no college education. Instead, they attended medical schools, many of which were condemned in the press and by the government as "substandard." Sugar cost four cents a pound. Eggs were fourteen cents a dozen. Coffee was fifteen cents a pound. Most women only washed their hair once a month, and used borax or egg yolks for shampoo. Canada passed a law prohibiting poor people from entering the country for any reason. The five leading causes of death in the U.S. were: 1. Pneumonia and influenza 2. Tuberculosis 3. Diarrhea 4. Heart disease 5. Stroke The American flag had 45 stars. Arizona, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Hawaii, and Alaska hadn't been admitted to the Union yet. The population of Las Vegas, Nevada, was 30. Crossword puzzles, canned beer, and iced tea hadn't been invented. There was no Mother's Day or Father's Day. Two of 10 U.S. adults couldn't read or write. Only 6 percent of all Americans had graduated high school. Marijuana, heroin, and morphine were all available over the counter at corner drugstores. According to one pharmacist, "Heroin clears the complexion, gives buoyancy to the mind, regulates the stomach and bowels, and is, in fact, a perfect guardian of health." Eighteen percent of households in the U.S had at least one full- time servant or domestic. There were only about 230 reported murders in the entire U.S. And I forwarded this from someone else without typing it myself, and sent it to you in a matter of seconds! Try to imagine what it may be like in another 100 years .... it staggers the mind.
Are older people necessarily wiser when it comes to practical decisions? I'm 22 and my husband is 25; I cannot believe how many times we've been told not to do certain things and/or have been judged by other adults (generally people over 30) without merit. Here's an example: My husband and I used to live in northern Delaware and we were going to a church just over the border in Elkton, MD at the time. My husband was getting ready to graduate from the University of Delaware with his computer science degree when word slipped out in the church that we were planning on moving to Huntsville, Alabama. A woman in her 50's we barely knew, confronted us at a church dinner insisting that it was absolutely a bad idea to move and that financially we would be much better off, living for some bizarre reason, in Maryland versus Delaware or any other state. Our plan had been in the works for the better part of a year and we had thus collected and evaluated STACKS of data on not only Huntsville but numerous other cities throughout the south. Based upon our ranked criteria (1. ratio of engineering jobs to population, 2. cost of housing, 3. overall tax burden, 4. population density, 5. average commute times and 6. distance to rural areas,), Huntsville won hands down. She refused to listen to me when I was able to show concrete evidence from several sources that refuted her claims that Maryland was the best place to live. Apparently she had allowed her daughter to screw up royally by getting into drugs and making several children whose fathers are still unknown. She claimed that she wanted to "save us" from a bad decision because she had allowed her daughter to be irresponsible. I don't think moving to a new city when you have marketable skills and a job waiting there is "irresponsible". I'll admit, I've made mistakes but seriously, if you can't get something major right the first time don't go into overkill and give unwanted and unwarranted advice. I encountered the same thing while I was taking a first time home buyer class at a local community center here in Huntsville. When I mentioned that my husband and I were specifically looking at houses that had been sitting on the market for awhile because of the potential for finding a good deal, an older woman spoke up and said that we were just asking for trouble. Apparently she had bought a home without getting a proper home inspection and ended up loosing it to foreclosure because she couldn't afford the major repairs that popped up. What bone head buys a house without having it inspected first anyway? Plus, this class had a very easy ("duh" type information, nothing serious) 60 question multiple choice test at the end; I got all of the questions right while the woman only got about half of them. That irked me further because she obviously didn't do her homework the first time she bought a house and couldn't even get the test right but felt the need to judge me for my well researched decision. My husband and I are very handy people and see repairs as an adventure to learn new skills. We actually just bought a house that had been on the market for almost 18 months (fully inspected by a licensed home inspector and found to be in good condition) at a considerable discount. Houses are a hit or miss game and its hard to spot the junkers from the jewels unless you really look. Time on the market doesn't necessarily flag a house as good or bad because there's a sucker born every day. This is all 10 months since the first example and it seems like I've proved those people and the others not mentioned wrong. I do take advice, only advice that I can prove is actually valid. Does older REALLY mean wiser?

This is up here purely so that I may have more of a true look at state stereotypes. I thank you for your time. In response to Gene H. -- I am using these stereotypes in order to create satire. And yes these are mean, I am fully aware of that, kind sir.. The dictionary defines satire as: 1. the use of irony, sarcasm, ridicule, or the like, in exposing, denouncing, or deriding vice, folly, etc. 2. a literary composition, in verse or prose, in which human folly and vice are held up to scorn, derision, or ridicule. Obviously the stereotypes are taken off of human folly and vice, and how we see one another (for that is what stereotypes are).
What is this world coming to? A Texas family is suing Gov. Rick Perry and a school district over a state-mandated moment of silence in schools, according to The Dallas Morning News. David Wallace Croft and his wife, Shannon, of Carrollton, Texas, have three children at Rosemeade Elementary and argue that the moment of silence is unconstitutional and amounts to state-sanctioned school prayer. The couple has a history of complaints against religious-affiliated words and images in schools, having previously complained about Boy Scout rallies held during school, fliers sent home about Good News Bible Club meetings and the inclusion of "Silent Night" and a Hanukkah song in holiday concerts, according to report. • Click here to read the story from The Dallas Morning News. Krista Moody, a spokeswoman for Perry, said the moment of silence law that the Crofts filed a suit against on March 1, 2006, was passed in 2003 and calls for students to observe a moment of silence after reciting pledges to the U.S. and Texas flags each day. The governor is certainly in favor of allowing students and faculty to quietly reflect on what they chose," Moody told FOXNews.com. Moody said the beauty behind the freedom of the law is children get to do with the moment what they wish. There are no guidelines behind the silence. Angela Shelley, media specialist for the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District, could not comment on the case due to current litigation but said that in dealing with the Crofts, the district has been fair and is following the law. "We have been fair and equal to everybody," she told FOXNews.com. "We need to respect everybody and value everybody’s opinion. We are following the letter of the law." Ted Cruz, solicitor general for Texas who represented Perry at a federal district court hearing on Tuesday, said the Crofts are arguing specifically that every moment of silence statute in the country is unconstitutional, and even if that first point is not correct, they further argue any statute that mentions the word "pray" is unconstitutional. Twenty-five states have moment-of-silence statutes. Thirteen of them explicitly specify prayer as an option the child can choose. The Crofts are citing a case from the 1980s that struck down a moment of silence statute in Alabama. "That argument is contrary to binding U.S. Supreme Court precedent," Cruz told FOXNews.com. Cruz said the Texas law is virtually identical to a Virginia state law that was unanimously held up in the federal court of appeals in 2001. The Supreme Court later declined to review that case. He said in initiating the current law, the Texas legislature has acted to protect the freedom of conscience of every child. "The First Amendment was drafted to protect the religious liberty of everyone, not to express hostility to matters of faith," he told FOXNews.com. Cruz said the federal court heard arguments on the matter Tuesday and would decide the case in about a month. Why do Athiest say we are imposing our religon when they are doing the same thing!
Can the U.S. government take a woman's baby from her because she doesn't speak English? That's the latest question to arise in the hothouse debate over illegal immigration, as an undocumented woman from impoverished rural Mexico — who speaks only an obscure indigenous language — fights in a Mississippi court to regain custody of her infant daughter.Cirila Baltazar Cruz comes from the mountainous southern state of Oaxaca, a region of Mexico that makes Appalachia look affluent. To escape the destitution in her village of 1,500 mostly Chatino Indians, Baltazar Cruz, 34, migrated earlier this decade to the U.S., hoping to send money back to two children she'd left in her mother's care. She found work at a Chinese restaurant on Mississippi's Gulf Coast. But Baltazar Cruz speaks only Chatino, barely any Spanish and no English. Last November she went to Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula, Miss., where she lives, to give birth to a baby girl, Rubí. According to documents obtained by the Mississippi Clarion-Ledger, the hospital called the state Department of Human Services, which ruled Baltazar Cruz an unfit mother in part because her lack of English "placed her unborn child in danger and will place the baby in danger in the future." Rubí was taken from Baltazar Cruz, who now faces deportation. In May, a Jackson County, Miss., judge gave the infant to a couple (it is yet unclear if for foster care or adoptive purposes) who reportedly live in Ocean Springs. Cruz is challenging the ruling in Jackson County Youth Court and hopes that if she is deported she can at least take Rubi back to Mexico with her. (She has not disclosed the father's identity.) Baltazar Cruz's case has been taken up by the Mississippi Immigrants' Rights Alliance (MIRA) and the Alabama-based Southern Poverty Law Center, whose lawyers say they can't comment on its specifics because of a judge's gag order. But Mary Bauer, the SPLC's legal director, says that on a general level, any notion that a mother can lose custody of a child because she doesn't speak a particular language "is a fundamentally outrageous violation of human rights." Before the gag order, advocates for Baltazar Cruz had charged that the problems sprang from faulty translation at Singing River. Baltazar Cruz arrived at the hospital after she flagged down a Pascagoula police officer on a city street. She was later joined there by a Chatino-speaking relative, according to MIRA; but the hospital declined his services and instead used a translator from state social services, a Puerto Rican-American who spoke no Chatino and whose Spanish was significantly different from that spoken in Mexico.http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1918941,00.html
When are we going to get over it? For much of the last forty years, ever since America "fixed" its race problem in the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts, we white people have been impatient with African Americans who continued to blame race for their difficulties. Often we have heard whites ask, "When are African Americans finally going to get over it? Now I want to ask: "When are we White Americans going to get over our ridiculous obsession with skin color? Recent reports that "Election Spurs Hundreds' of Race Threats, Crimes" should frighten and infuriate every one of us. Having grown up in "Bombingham," Alabama in the 1960s, I remember overhearing an avalanche of comments about what many white classmates and their parents wanted to do to John and Bobby Kennedy and Martin Luther King. Eventually, as you may recall, in all three cases, someone decided to do more than "talk the talk." Since our recent presidential election, to our eternal shame we are once again hearing the same reprehensible talk I remember from my boyhood. We white people have controlled political life in the disunited colonies and United States for some 400 years on this continent. Conservative whites have been in power 28 of the last 40 years. Even during the eight Clinton years, conservatives in Congress blocked most of his agenda and pulled him to the right. Yet never in that period did I read any headlines suggesting that anyone was calling for the assassinations of presidents Nixon, Ford, Reagan, or either of the Bushes. Criticize them, yes. Call for their impeachment, perhaps. But there were no bounties on their heads. And even when someone did try to kill Ronald Reagan, the perpetrator was non-political mental case who wanted merely to impress Jody Foster. But elect a liberal who happens to be Black and we're back in the sixties again. At this point in our history, we should be proud that we've proven what conservatives are always saying -- that in America anything is possible, EVEN electing a black man as president. But instead we now hear that school children from Maine to California are talking about wanting to "assassinate Obama." Fighting the urge to throw up, I can only ask, "How long?" How long before we white people realize we can't make our nation, much less the whole world, look like us? How long until we white people can - once and for all - get over this hell-conceived preoccupation with skin color? How long until we white people get over the demonic conviction that white skin makes us superior? How long before we white people get over our bitter resentments about being demoted to the status of equality with non-whites? How long before we get over our expectations that we should be at the head of the line merely because of our white skin? How long until we white people end our silence and call out our peers when they share the latest racist jokes in the privacy of our white-only conversations? I believe in free speech, but how long until we white people start making racist loudmouths as socially uncomfortable as we do flag burners? How long until we white people will stop insisting that blacks exercise personal responsibility, build strong families, educate themselves enough to edit the Harvard Law Review, and work hard enough to become President of the United States, only to threaten to assassinate them when they do? How long before we start "living out the true meaning" of our creeds, both civil and religious, that all men and women are created equal and that "red and yellow, black and white" all are precious in God's sight? Until this past November 4, I didn't believe this country would ever elect an African American to the presidency. I still don't believe I'll live long enough to see us white people get over our racism problem. But here's my three-point plan: First, everyday that Barack Obama lives in the White House that Black Slaves Built, I'm going to pray that God (and the Secret Service) will protect him and his family from us white people. Second, I'm going to report to the FBI any white person I overhear saying, in seriousness or in jest, anything of a threatening nature about President Obama. Third, I'm going to pray to live long enough to see America surprise the world once again, when
Is South Carolina one of the top racists states? At first I only thought of the Confederate flag,Aryan, white supremacist regions of America as full of discriminating, bigoted and racist places like Alabama,Mississippi, some places in Georgia, some in Florida but Arizona is really taking the cake. Because it is on the west coast a supposed more open and progressive coast. But like dirt (meaning the confederates, white supremacists,Aryans and so on) mix it in clean water and then all is contaminated. Why is it that the South that lost the war still wanting to fly the flag and still pay homage to their loss of the Civil War...the war could have been avoided if the Confederates had freed the slaves. Rent the DVD "The CSA" a fictional account of the South winning the civil war and having a Confederate States of America. What are your thots???

Questions on the United States?????? Where is Blackwell's Island located? Were Alabama and Georgia a part of the Union or Confederate during the civil war? When and by whom was New York created? What do the stripes mean in the national flag? Were USA and Australia joined in the past? Who were the first inhabitants of Hawaii and when did Europeans discover it? Why was the statue of liberty built and when? Who was Beauregard? What were the causes for the American Mexican war? Who carved the faces on Mt. Rushmore? Which parts have the coldest temperature and receive snow?
Why am I seeing progressively more Confederate flags in Illinois? Do these people forget that Illinois was a Free State in the Union, never a part of the Confederacy. Do they forget that Abraham Lincoln hailed from Illinois? Have they forgotten that in "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn", Jim was trying to escape slavery by crossing into Illinois? Seriously, what gives with all the Confederate fan-bois coming to my state? Why don't you just go back to Mississippi, or Alabama or wherever you came from? Don't you realize that the good people of Illinois don't want you here? Lincoln was only born in Ketucky, and lived there for the first 7 years of his life. He lived the majority of his adult life in Illinois. Nice try. I have no problem with Free Expression. I only ask that you freely express your ignorance and intolerance somewhere else. Confederate apologists are not welcome in Illinois.
Why is the South so racist? I am orginally from New York and I moved to Georgia when I was 14, Texas when I was 15, and Alabama when I was 16 ( Yes, I moved a lot) and now I am 17 back in NY and everything is back to normal but while I was at these states the house I lived with my parents were robbed, I received threat letters from the neighbor's children who were my age, I was laughed at my classes for being the only hispanic there, confederate flags being shoved in my face, they even broke my dad's car window with a baseball bat one night and wrote "Go home N*ggers" with spray paint on the car. Why are people from the South like this?
Can i sue a retail store for criminal negligence, defamation of character as well as pain and suffering? this one is long but i need to know what my options are. my boyfriend and i were exiting a a very popular retail store after buying my daughter her valentines present (a my life size barbi). as we approached the doors outside this guy walks by and says p*ssy a** mother f*cker. my boyfriend turns and ask do i know you. the guy proceeds to walk up to me and my boyfriend and ask if we wanted to know him. a security officer is posted up not even 5 feet away and says nothing while they banter back andd forth. i asked the security gaurd is i could get a little help here and he just looks at me. i finally get my boyfriend to continue to leave and told the guy he needed to go inside and shop for whatever he intented to buy when he got here and leave us alone. as we are in the parking lot we hear "i'll f*cking cut you mother f*cker" we turn around and the guy not only followed us back out into the parking lot but he also had his hand in his pocket. i asked him "didnt i tell you to stay inside what the hell is your problem?" and he replies "i'll cut you too b*tch". i've had enough at this retail store. i flag him down and tell him look "this guy is harrassing us please get him away from us he's scaring me". so the security follows in his truck.and parks about a lane away from where my boyfriend and i have parked. (keep in mind this security officer NEVER steps out of his truck nor does he phone the police during the incidents i'm about to state.) he rolls his window down and the guy who's been harrassing us walks over to the truck and i'm not sure what he is saying but he keeps bantering us finally i get my boyfriend in his car(we drove seperate cars because i had just gotten off work at my second job and it was 10pm and i didnt want to go to the store alone, especially in my waitress outfit when anyone with sense knows i would probably have some cash on me.. therefore i got him to meet me up there, plus we were goin to hide my daughters barbi in his trunk until valentines day). he gets in his car and as i get in mine i notice this guy walking towards my car. (remember the security is STILL sitting in his truck) he puts his hand in his pocket, i check to see if my boyfriend had already left the parking lot and i see my boyfriend slam on his brakes, he gets out honks the horn(trying to get the attention away from me) and throws a red bull can at the guy who is still harrassing us. the guy then runs towards my boyfriends car, i back out of my parking spot and drive to where my boyfriend is. the guy tries to reach in my boyfriends window of his car with his KNIFE and my boyfriend takes off... the guy then throws the knife and ends up busting out my boyfriends back windshield of his brand new car with it. i'm freaking out at this point. i'm trying to find my phone and call the police(of course my purse is a suitcase!! so of course when i need it most i cant find it)... the guy starts taking his jacket off and wanting my boyfriend to fight him and my boyfriend tells him "sorry buddy whooping your *** isnt goin to fix my car's back windshield so i'll just call the police" the guy takes off down the sideroad.. my boyfriend drops the phone and ends up running over the guy cause when i see his head go down, i suppose to grab the phone, i see the boy walk into the front of his car.(remember that security officer??? yeah he's still in his truck, hasn't moved an inch). so my boyfriend keeps going.(yes i know a hit and run and this guy did press charges and wants my boyfriend to pay his medical bills now, it's been dropped to a felony.. leaving the scene of an accident with injuries... the guy seriously tried to get him for attempted vehicler homicide!!!!) anyways... 2 days later my picture is all over the news stating that i was in the vehicle that sent a man to the hospital when clearly i was driving my own car!!, wanna know who filed the police report .... the security officer in the parking lot!!! not only that ever since that night i have terrible anxiety when i am alone in parking lots or whenever it's just my child and i, and since have been put on xanax. so because of 2 security gaurds at this retail store just ignoring me and one of those morons stating i was in the same car with my boyfriend when he clearly saw me get into my own car, my face was all over the city news as well as our alabama state website!!!!! and in the paper. not to mention i had to explain to my 2 jobs why i was in the paper. and on top of it i feel so un-naturally unsafe in any parking lot i give myself panic attacks!! what are my rights??? and what can i do??? i'm still so upset about the situation and the parking lot panic attacks are really stating to affect my everyday life. i've never ever been in any kind of situation like that and i think about it all the time!! if anyone has any idea what i can do please tell me... thank you!
elvis alive? The only time I feel alive... is when I'm in front of my audience, my people. That's the only time I really feel like I'm human." "Long after I'm gone, what I did today will be heard by someone. I just want them to get the best of what I had." (Elvis Presley) Is Elvis Alive ? There are many reasons to believe that Elvis Presley is dead. When the only arguments to believe otherwise come from crazed fans and supermarket tabloids, it is easy to dismiss the possibility that Elvis is still among us. However, the circumstances surrounding Elvis' alleged death are quite mysterious and beg closer attention. As it turns out, there are many concrete reasons to believe that Elvis is still alive. The Gravesite. Elvis' name is misspelled on his headstone. Elvis' full name is Elvis Aron Presley, but on his grave his middle name is spelled incorrectly with two a's. His father would not have let this happen. When Elvis was born, his name was misspelled on his birth certificate, and his father went to great lengths to get it put right. The unique spelling of Elvis' name was important to his family. Elvis' current "resting place" is in between his father and his grandmother and not next to his mother where he had adamantly requested. It is doubtful that the people close to him would allow these things to happen. Elvis is a superstitious man, enough so that he wouldn't tempt fate by putting his real name on a tombstone, or violate the ground next to his mother until he was ready to be placed there for good. Death Certificate. Elvis was very vain, and he was embarrassed about his recent weight gain, an astonishing 50 pounds in the month before his so-called death. Even though he weighed about 250 pounds at the time of his "death," his death certificate lists him at a spry 170 pounds. The original death certificate disappeared, and the current death certificate is dated two months after his alleged death. The Wax Body Theory. This argument is very convincing when the facts are considered. Elvis' coffin required several pall bearers because it weighed 900 pounds. Attendants of the funeral reported that the air around the coffin was rather cool. It is suspected that the coffin contained an air conditioning unit to keep a wax body cool, a wax body that was a replica of Elvis designed to fool funeral-goers. And how did the Presley family get a 900 pound, custom made coffin ready for a funeral that was held on the day after his death? It takes a lot of time to build such an elaborate coffin. And why was the funeral so quickly? Some say that the immediacy was intended to make it as difficult as possible for the people who were Elvis' biggest fans to attend the proceedings. It could be a concern that they might recognize the flaws in the wax replica. Elvis was an 8th degree black belt whose hands were rough with calluses, yet the body in the coffin had hands that were soft and pudgy. The body in the coffin had a pug nose and arched eyebrows {unlike Elvis} and most importantly, one of the sideburns on the "corpse" was loose and falling off. A hairdresser later reported gluing the sideburn back on the body. Unusual Behavior. Two hours after Elvis' death was announced publicly, a man who reportedly looked remarkably like Elvis purchased a ticket for Buenos Aeries, paid in cash, and used the name John Burrows: the same name Elvis had used as an alias several times before. Elvis had a few books that were considered to be his most prized possessions. He had a bible, several pharmaceutical books, books on death, and most importantly Chiro's Book of Numbers and The Autobiography of Yogi which I will explain more about later. After Elvis's death was announced, these books disappeared and were never recovered. In the weeks preceding his alleged death, Elvis' actions were not those of a man who was about to embark on an extensive US tour. He ordered no new suits despite having gained 50 pounds since his last tour, and he bid "adios" at his last show in Hawaii. He had never done this before. Adios, like the French adieu, has the significance of being a final good-bye as opposed to an "I'll be seeing you on my next tour" kind of good-bye. Others were intrigued by Elvis' decision to sign a lucrative TV deal with NBC that would cover the tour. It was unprecedented for a network to pay such a large amount up front, in cash, for such a deal. Many wonder why Elvis even agreed to the deal since his vanity discouraged him from making public appearances due to his weight gain. RCA showed uncanny and unbelievable foresight by mass producing millions of Elvis' current and previous recordings and merchandise. This is standard practice for an act that is about to go on tour, but the numbers in this case were beyond reasonable expectations. The announcement of Elvis' death caused record sales to skyrocket. Elvis did other unusual things that created suspicion. First, he fired several employees that he had relied upon for a long time. Also, two days before his alleged death, Elvis telephoned a friend of his named Miss Foster. He told her that he wasn't planning on going on the upcoming tour. She asked him if he had canceled it, and he said that he had not. When she asked if he was ill, he said that he was fine, and that she should not ask any more questions or tell anyone anything, and that she should not believe anything she read. He told her that his troubles would all soon be over, and that he would call her in a few weeks. The author of Elvis Where Are You? writes that Miss Foster took a polygraph test regarding this story, and that she was not lying. The day after Elvis' alleged death, a woman named Lucy De Barbon, a former lover of Elvis, received a single rose in the mail. The card indicated that the flower was from "El Lancelot." This had been her pet name for Elvis, and it was a name that no one else knew. Flowers can't be sent from beyond the grave. This was Elvis' way of letting her know that he was not dead, even though he didn't want to be found. Chiro's Book of Numbers. Elvis had a fascination with numerology, an interest he fed by reading Chiro's Book of Numbers. The theory that Elvis orchestrated his death is further supported when considering the significance of the date of his alleged death. The date in question is August 16, 1977. By adding the numbers in the date, 8, 16, and 1977, you get 2001. This is the title of Elvis' favorite movie in which the hero plans his immortality in the bathroom. Elvis spent a considerable amount of time doing the same: planning his afterlife on the toilet.. Elvis spent so much time in the bathroom that he had his toilet converted into a reclining comfy chair. Coincidentally, the bathroom is also where Elvis' body was reportedly found. Given Elvis' religious beliefs, he had a fascination with things that come in threes, for example, father, son, and holy ghost. The sum of the digits from his favorite film (2+0+0+1) is three. Let's consider the triad of the repetition of the number 24. 2001 (favorite film) less 1977 (year of death) is 24. The two numbers from the day of death (8/16) when added up equal 24. The sum of the digits in the year of death (1+9+7+7) also equals 24. That is 3 occurrences of the number 24 which is divisible by 3, and when divided by three the result, 8 has a perfect cubed root (2x2x2=8). Elvis loved numerology, and when you consider the numeric significance of the date of his alleged death, it is clear that if indeed he did plan to fake his death, he could not have chosen a better date. Reason Elvis had many reasons to fake his death. It has been said that Elvis' life was in danger. He had recently lost $10,000,000 in an airplane/real estate deal with a California based organization called the "Fraternity" that had links to the Mafia. It is speculated that he corroborated with the government to expose the organized crime ring in exchange for protection, perhaps in the form of a new life and identity compliments of the Witness Protection Program. Elvis was a prisoner of his own fame. He had many other reasons to leave his life behind. Because of his incredible popularity he recieved several death threats, and he was concerned about the safety of his ex-wife and daughter. Sometimes when he wanted to leave Graceland he would send look-alikes out to distract would be followers. Elvis was also known to ride in the trunk of someone else's car to avoid being seen. Once, when he fell ill in Las Vegas, he couldn't get proper medical attention because the hospital was overwhelmed by fans. At the time of his alleged death, Elvis thought he was nearing the end of his career. He saw his self as 42 with greying hair, overweight, and he thought his voice was starting to weaken,. He was going down hill, and he was too proud to go out with a whimper. He would never want his fans to see him in such an unhealthy condition. Elvis had shown a fascination with death on several occasions. In the days leading up to his alleged death he was reported to have visited funeral homes at odd hours of the night with close friends. Was he doing research? Elvis once faked his death by setting up an elaborate shooting in which a would be killer fired blanks at Elvis who had a blood pack which he discharged. It was Elvis' intention to see how the people closest to him would react to his death. Perhaps what he learned convinced him to do it for real. Finally, one of Elvis' favorite books is the spiritual Autobiography of Yogi. One of the central themes of this book is the relinquishing of one's wealth and earthly possessions to achieve spiritual oneness. Elvis could do this, as well as address his other concerns of sanity and safety by faking his death and living in exile. Means. Elvis had the means to fake his own death. He is accused of destroying himself with drugs. In reality, Elvis was a pharmaceutical expert. He took a lot of drugs, but he knew what he was doing and was extremely careful. He knew what drugs he could self-administer to create a deathlike state. Also Elvis' experience with the martial arts was such that he could slow his heart rate and breathing in order to feign death. Elvis' manager, Colonel Tom Parker, had once created a new identity for himself. He came to America as an illegal immigrant from Holland, but through various connections managed to create a new identity complete with a passport, birth certificate, drivers license, and social security number. He would have known how to give Elvis a second life. Aswell as Elvis' ties to the government through his testimony against the "Fraternity", Elvis was known to interact with the President of the United States. He was reported in government documents to use the name John Burrows as an alias when he wanted to travel. Some people believe that Elvis worked for the government as a drug agent. He did, after all have extensive contact with many people in the music business who, as we know, tend to dabble in illegal substances. And, of course, we must allow that Elvis' connections to the government gave him access to the Witness Protection Program. If they can turn the Simpsons into the Thompsons, they can relocate anybody. Orion? Many believe that Elvis couldn't have given up performing completely. Just imagine, after a while the desire to perform would grow once he started his life in exile. The story of Orion supports the theory that Elvis attempted a secret comeback. Shortly after Elvis' alleged death, a masked singer by the name of Orion emerged on the scene. He was big like Elvis, and he sang just like Elvis. Because of the mask no one could tell his true identity. One fan described seeing Orion from near the stage. She claims that Orion left the stage between songs, and when he appeared moments later the sweat was gone from his armpits and back and she thought that his costume looked slightly different. After the song he left the stage, and the original Orion returned. Another fan described how she rushed into a tour bus at an Orion show only to see two Orions in the back of the bus. She claimed that one ducked into the bathroom before she could get a good look at him, but he appeared to look like Elvis Presley. What's even more remarkable is the fictional story called Orion that was written by Gail Brewer-Georgio about a legendary performer who had several identities and wanted to fake his death. The story was written and submitted to the William Morris Agency for publication consideration after Elvis' alleged death and before the real Orion ever performed. As it turns out, there are many ways in which the real Orion mimicked the events as described in the book. For example, the performers' managers had the same name. Also, without knowing it, Brewer-Georgio wrote of events in Orion that had actually taken place in Elvis' life. It was a case of life imitating art. Picking up the Pieces. In 1981, 20/20 did an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the alleged death of Elvis Presley. The investigative report was very convincing. Oddly enough, within two weeks of the report, the singer, Orion, disappeared and was never heard from again. The book, Orion disappeared from shelves across the country. It had been recalled by the publisher which was associated with the William Morris Agency. Incidentally, the William Morris Agency is the same agency that represented Elvis. It seems that Elvis Presley is worth more dead than alive. By faking his death and relocating with a new identity he is safe from his fans and the "Fraternity", the government can make a solid case against the organized crime ring, and RCA, Elvis' family, and Elvis' management can all reap immense financial benefits from the attention. That is... except for one benefit....after nearly 25 years no one has collected on his life insurance policy. Why ????? During his last concert tour in 1977, Elvis spoke of "not looking good tonight", but, he would look good in his coffin. He made comments of being tired of living as he was and how it was going to change. He told of how he would like to be just himself instead of an "image". On August 16th 1977, at 8:00 A.M., Elvis told Ginger Alden that he was going into the bathroom to read. (This bathroom/lounge had it's own back entrance.) For the next six hours no one saw him. Elvis signed for a special delivery letter at 9:30 A.M. At 2:00 P.M. Ginger Alden found the apparent body of Elvis lying on the floor in front of his chair, where he had been reading. She called Al Strada who in turn called Joe Esposito. George Nichopoulous (aka Dr. Nick) was then telephoned. Joe called the fire department, unit 6. The ambulance arrived at Graceland at 2:33 P.M. Paramedics administered CPR, despite rigor mortis. The body was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital at 2:48 P.M. By 3:00 P.M. Elvis' family members and friends were informed of his "death". Public announcement was given at 3:30 P.M. August 17th, the body was brought back to Graceland for family viewing. The public viewing was from 3:00 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. On August 18th,1977. Tennesse Governor Ray Blanton ordered flags to be flown at half-mast for the duration of the funeral procession. At midday the Graceland gates swung open, a white Cadillac hurse rolled through them, followed by sixteen white Cadillac limousines. QUESTIONS BEGIN How could it take twenty minutes for paramedics to drive sixteen blocks to Graceland if the call came in at 2:33 P.M.? The Medical Examiner's Report states that the body was found with rigor mortis, while the police report states "unconcious". Why would anyone try to give CPR to a rigor mortised body ? The ME report listed the body as weighing 80 pounds lighter then Elvis' actual weight. How could Elvis have passed a physical exam just prior to August 16th if his heart was so enlarged ? How could he have played raquetball for several hours on August 16th, just before his "death" ? ABC's 1979 program on the cover up of Elvis' death stated that all the stomach contents were destroyed. Bill Burkin in his book Elvis World states that officials at Babtist Memorial Hospital had assured him that the stomach contents had been shipped to a California lab to be examined and then on to a lab in Utah, and then ? There are rumors of Elvis' "death" being caused by a heart attack, drug overdose, suffocation in carpeting, suicide and even cancer ! Persons in attendance at Graceland at the time of "death" don't agree on the color of pajamas Elvis was wearing or the posistion of the body. Why did Vernon ask many people NOT to attend the funeral but to come a week later ? Why did Vernon refuse to accept the flag which is usually given to dead war veterans ? Why didn't Elvis have any new jumpsuits made during 1977 ? The handwriting on the death certificate matched Elvis' own writing ! Elvis was very aware of which presribed drugs did not mix well with others. Elvis had glaucoma, and Dexedrine, a drug not to be taken with that condition, was listed as being in his system. Who would prescribe it and why would he take it ? Whose body was autopsied ? Funeral homes don't usually keep solid copper coffins in stock. These coffins weigh in the area of 300 pounds and usually take two months to receive once ordered. This coffin seemed to have been ready. Monte Nicholson, a nineteen year veteran of the Los Angeles Sheriffs Department, wrote a novel called The Presley Arrangement. This novel tells the story of a body that is autopsied, a man resembling Elvis. The man had died of cancer. The body is later returned for private burial, to the man's own family. The man's family are paid to remain silent about the incident. Nicholson explains a government connection. In a 1989 radio interview Nicholson said that even if he knew there was an FBI connection and was told not to say anything, he COULD NOT say. Nicholson also claimed that if he knew the answer to the question, and says he does, he will not disclose his knowledge. He said that if Elvis is alive that his book is pretty close to the truth of what REALLY happened. Was Elvis a DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) agent ? Elvis can be seen wearing a DEA Staff jacket in several photographs, including one taken in June of 1977, approximately six weeks before his "death". Also Elvis was wearing a jogging suit with the DEA logo on it during the early morning hours of August 16th 1977. When Elvis met with President Richard Nixon he said he had been "studying" the drug culture for over 10 years, he could get into any culture group and be accepted. Elvis said he had gotten alot from the country and he wanted to repay in some way. It would have been a dangerous job and one that an entertainer such as Elvis would not have HAD to do unless he chose to. Many DEA agents pose as "drug users" and "pushers" in their undercover work. Elvis could get to anyone if he appeared to be a "user". In the book Elvis: What Happened? one of the guys wondered if Elvis was ever as whacked out as he seemed to be. Maybe he is a "great" actor after all. Perhaps he deserves an "Oscar". Death threats were issued against Elvis and his family. Those who had leveled those threats had actually broken into Graceland. At times, the FBI were called. Deputy Narcotics Director John Finlator arranged for Elvis to come to his office under the name of John Burrows. Finlator didn't want to give Elvis a badge but the President reversed the decision. On December 21st of 1970, Elvis met with President Richard Nixon in the oval office, Washington, D.C. Elvis had written a letter requesting a meeting and expressed his concerns about the drug culture, hippie elements, the SDS and other groups who were against the establishment. When Finlator finally gave Elvis the badge and promised to issue him consultant credentials, Elvis was overcome with emotion and his eyes became misty. Ten days later he met with the FBI. On the same day, President Nixon wrote Elvis a thank you. Elvis wrote to the President and said, "I can and will do more good, if I were made a Federal Agent at large, and I will help out by doing it my way." Elvis was known to be in his bedroom for weeks, seeing no one. (There was a back staircase at Graceland.) Elvis could sneak out whenever he needed to. Department of the Treasury-Bob Pritchett says that during the years of '74, '75, and '76 "Mr. Presley provided one of our undercover agents, who was a musician, a job cover. Undercover agents appear to have other occupations. None of Elvis' group of friends knew of this agent and the role he played in setting up his cover. Since he had an undercover agent in his group from '74-'76, when did he find time to use drugs himself? Elvis was very good at keeping secrets and living a "double life". Elvis spoke with President Carter two weeks before his death. It involved aid to a friend. On August 16, 1977, President Carter issued this tribute: "Elvis Presley's death deprives our country of a part of itself. He was unique and irreplaceable. More than twenty years ago he burst upon the scene with an impact that was unprecedented and will probably never be equaled. His music and his personality, fusing the styles of white country and black rhythm and blues, permanently changed the face of American popular culture. His following was immense and he was a symbol of good humor of his country." This was a formal statement, when a celebrity's death is usually only commented on. He had spoken to Nixon and Carter both shortly before the day he died. In the September 1988 issue of American Karate magazine, Ed Parker tells of a time when a terrorist group threatened Elvis' life to make him an example of how they could get to famous people. They threatened to plant a bomb in one of the gifts offered to Elvis at a concert. This was a threat as long as he was "alive", and his family were targets also. Elvis always had law enforcement officials around him. John O'Grady, who was earlier in charge of NARC Divisions of the LAPD, was one of them. He also hired Dick Grob, a former sargeant with the Palm Springs Police. He was surrounded by at least two lawmen in top security positions. Elvis was in danger. The "hoax" may have been the only way out! History will prove Elvis to be an American hero beyond being an American entertainer. SIGHTINGS With all the Elvis lookalikes, he could actually walk around using disguises and get away with it. Who would be looking for him anyway, when he is supposedly dead? Before 1977, there was an "Elvis lookalike, sound alike" at a Memphis theatre. Elvis put on his best "Elvis outfit", strolled in and mingled with the clones, doing his best "Hey, baby". Afterwards, he came back to Graceland laughing. He tried out and lost! Elvis and his mother's bodies were moved to the Meditation Gardens for burial, after three men tried to break into the crypt. Graceland was rezoned to permit burials at the estate. In the 1989 Orion's "Farewell to the King", the King says "I died once. I had to be willing to give up everything, even the will to live." The last recording session at Graceland was The Last Farewell. There have been many sightings at various places including Graceland. There are some escape routes at Graceland that people don't know about. In a syndicated newspaper across the nation on June 5, 1990, an article headlined "Elvis Lives, At Least On Census Form." The Census Bureau reported in 1990 that Elvis returned a questionaire to the bureau office in Huntsville, Alabama. It was noticed by census workers who were screening forms for completednesss. Late Night with Ross Shafer (August 1988) had a survey that showed that out of 30,000 people polled, approximately 84% believe Elvis is alive. On Monday, August 22, 1988, Harold Schuitmaker, in an item of the Detroit News, said "Elvis is Alive and Living in Kalamazoo." Schuitmaker was a well known Michigan politician and resident of Paw Paw (15 miles from Kalamazoo). The masked singer Orion was at the McMinnville Civic Center and a fan said that she felt that the man onstage and the one who signed autographs were different people. People have reported that someone sounding like Elvis called them on the phone and some hung up because they couldn't believe it. A book titled Elvis: Where Are You? came out of Wilton Manors, Florida around August, 1982 under the name of Al Jefferies. The premise of the book was that Elvis hoaxed his death. Kelly Burgess, a former assistant editor and feature writer with the Detroit News, claimed to have seen Elvis in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She is not living now. In 1988, Heartbreak Hotel starred David Keith as Elvis. (The film had the support of EP Enterprises.) A soundtrack album thanked Jerry Schilling and a special thanks to J.B. In 1987's Robo Cop, a cop is killed, but didn't die. He returns as Robo Cop-a superman hero. It was filmed in Michigan. During that time radio stations got calls from a man sounding like Elvis Presley. There have been lots of sightings there and it was also on his final concert tour. Is this possibly a "message" film? March 18, 1990, an article on Robo Cop, in the Detroit News told of Robo Cop speaking to a Boys and Girls club against drugs. It was a three month long anti-drug campaign organized by the FBI, Orion Home Video of New York, and the Boys Club of America. This Robo Cop was not the same actor as in the movie-his true identity was not revealed. he was a special agent helping the FBI fight the war on drugs. His suit was bullet-proof. During filming, some people saw a man looking like an older Elvis. In Mac and Me, a film from 1988, a young alien is lost and at the end the family drives away in an old pink Cadillac convertible. A balloon caption says "We'll be back". The sound track is on Curb Records, which is the same label as "Spelling on the Stone". There were some song lyrics which were: "Tired of being myself, being different from everyone else, somehow you knew I needed your help, be my friend forever. I never found my star in the night; living my dream was far from sight." There was a scene in the movie where Eric asks Debbie "Why didn't you tell him that you saw him (the alien)?" She says, "Because no one would believe me." Elvis has become a mythic figure, and there have been frequent rumors that he is still alive. Elvis remains the single most influential and respected figure in the history of Rock music. Elvis was the first Rock/Pop singer to have a single record sell a million copies, the first to go platinum with an album in less than two weeks, the first singer to pre-sell a million records before it's release, the first entertainer to earn a million dollars for one concert performance, and the first young, white, southern male to bring international attention to the importance of black rhythm and blues. He was the first singer to get a million dollar screen contract. He was the first music personality to have a TV performance broadcast worldwide via satellite. In 1993, he became the first rock'n'roll star whose picture appeared on a commemorative U.S. Postal stamp (the largest stamp printing in history). Elvis is a landmark in almost everyone's life, going back to distant memories of watching him above the waist on Ed Sullivan or hearing "Hound Dog" for the first time. His image continues to mesmerize: witness the appearance of 200 Elvis impersonators at Liberty Weekend in 1986. There was a time when he was merely the most popular entertainer in history. He is more than that now. He is a symbol of America as recognizable as the flag. Elvis opened the 'window of his soul' to his fans all over the world. Thank you, Elvis! Remember you are always on our minds. "TCB FOREVER! Any Comments on this ? E-mail Me i found this on the internet weird
Does the Air Force have double standards on adultery for men and women? (I wrote this question with Governor Mark Sanford in mind. [edit] Academy On June 29, 1989 Flinn was accepted by both the United States Air Force Academy and the Naval Academy, with nominations from Senator Sam Nunn and Congressman George "Buddy" Darden, choosing to enter the Air Force as a member of the Class of 1993. Considered by her Air Officer Commanding ("AOC") to be one of the top cadets at the academy, Flinn was active in many cadet programs, and was selected for an overseas Operation Air Force program, spending the summer of 1991 at Kunsan Air Base in Korea. She was further selected during her senior year to participate in an international exchange program with L'École de l'Air (the French Air Force Academy). Eight cadets are selected every year for this program, becoming provisional ambassadors to France, attending L'École de l'Air and participating in its programs. Flinn flew the Cap-10 and received French jump wings. [edit] Pilot training Flinn entered Undergraduate Pilot Training on January 24, 1994 at Columbus Air Force Base, Mississippi, and later attended water survival training and the Combined Services Support Program at Tyndall Air Force Base near Panama City, Florida. In early 1995, Flinn worked in the Wing Scheduling Office back at Columbus AFB, organizing air show information, as well as coordinating Emergency Procedures Training for NASA. In April 1995, Flinn began B-52 training at Barksdale Air Force Base, in Louisiana, received the highest possible scores on all evaluations (including flight evaluations), and was titled as a distinguished graduate of her class. [edit] Post-training Later that October, Flinn was a delegate to the 1995 Defense Advisory Committee on Women in the Service conference at Luke Air Force Base. She spoke to several national military leaders, including the Air Force Chief of Staff and the Secretary of the Air Force about Air Force policies concerning women in combat. [edit] Missions Arriving at Minot AFB, North Dakota, in October 1995, Flinn was mission-qualified for the B-52H Stratofortress by December, as a co-pilot, participating in various B-52 operations for both conventional and nuclear weapons. 1st Lt Flinn participated in various missions, including Hornet's Nest, Global Guardian, Bulwark Bronze, Statex, Green Flag, NORI, and CORI. Selected to demonstrate B-52H power projection capabilities to the Secretary of the Air Force, 1st Lt Flinn flew on a Global Power long-range airstrike during an international exercise, and participated at air shows at Andrews Air Force Base. She was allowed to resign from the Air
