Arizona? And What European Flag Flew Over?

What European flag once flew over land that is now the Arizona state?

1. If there was a flag, it would be the Spanish one. During the colonial period, Mexico was large and extended further north then Arizona. France also controlled Mexico once, but this was brief, and it's borders were near where the current border is.
