Montana State Flags

Montana state flags are perhaps the most colorful and unique of all. The flag represents the great history and diverse land of the Treasure State, and it is a great addition to the porch of any Montana resident. The flag is blue in color with "Montana" across the top in yellow print. Underneath is the state seal, which contains a pick, shovel, and plow. These tools represent the activities of pioneer times: farming and mining. In the background, the sun rises over the mountains, forests and falls of the Missouri River. At the bottom of the seal is a purple ribbon containing the state motto "Oro-y-Plata," which means "gold and silver." As described above, the Montana state flag is a colorful depiction of the beautiful land and rich history of the Treasure State. The flag is a great way to show appreciation of what Montana has to offer.
