Nebraska State Flags

The official Nebraska state flags currently in use were adopted in 1925 but only approved for official use as late as 1963. This makes Nebraska one of the last states to adopt an official flag. Both civil and state versions are identical, bearing the state seal in gold and white over a solid medium blue background. The seal bears the motto "Equality Before the Law" and portrays the importance of agriculture, industry and the Missouri River. These are depicted by a blacksmith and anvil, a steamboat, a settler's cabin with sheaves of harvested wheat and a steam train running near the mountains in the background.
