Oklahoma State Flags
![]() Oklahoma state flags symbolize the importance of Native American culture in the history of the Sooner State. The background of the current flag is blue, and the center depicts an Osage warrior's shield. On the shield, there are six crosses representing high ideals. Superimposed over the shield are symbols of peace and unity between Native American and European-American settlers -- the calumet (peace pipe) and the olive branch. The shield is decorated with seven eagle feathers. Underneath the shield is "Oklahoma" in white lettering. The Oklahoma state flag shows great respect to the Native American culture that was once very prevalent in that territory. |
